Fuel Tanker Collapses and Catches Fire on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, No Casualties Reported

A fuel tanker collapsed and caught fire on Saturday morning at the Ibafo/Aseese junction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, causing significant traffic disruptions. The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) reported that there were no casualties from the incident.

The fire, which broke out around 7 am, was brought under control by 8:30 am. Traffic in the area is slowly returning to normal, extending to the Wawa/Arepo section of the expressway. TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the incident and provided updates on the situation.

Akinbiyi's statement reads: "Fire update at Ibafo. As of 0830 hrs., the fire has finally been put to rest. Traffic is gradually moving. Operatives are on the ground to ease the traffic. I will provide additional updates later."

The prompt response from emergency services helped prevent any casualties and ensured that the fire was quickly contained, allowing traffic to resume on the busy expressway.
