In response to the cholera outbreak sweeping across Nigeria, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, has pledged emergency vaccine doses to assist in containment efforts. Dr. Sania Nishtar, CEO of Gavi, expressed concern over the situation and affirmed readiness to support the Nigerian government in its response.

The outbreak, which has claimed 54 lives and affected 1,579 people across 32 states and 115 local government areas, prompted the activation of Nigeria's Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC). The EOC serves as a command centre to coordinate response activities, enhance surveillance, and manage cases effectively.
