Gov. Peter Mbah Congratulates Rangers International FC on NPFL Victory

Gov. Peter Mbah of Enugu State has extended his congratulations to Rangers International Football Club of Enugu for securing the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title. The celebratory message followed Rangers' 2-0 win over Bendel Insurance Football Club at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Sunday.

The match saw goals from Kenechukwu Agu in the 33rd minute and Chidiebere Nwobodo in the 65th minute, propelling the team to their eighth league title and their second since 2016. The victory was significant, clinching the title with a game to spare, especially as their nearest competitors, Remo Stars and Enyimba Football Club, both suffered 1-2 defeats in their respective matches.

Gov. Mbah expressed his excitement over the victory, highlighting it as a testament to the enduring greatness of Enugu State. He praised the team's performance and commitment, noting that it reflects the state's values and aspirations. "I can tell you that the government and people of Enugu State are very excited. What we have witnessed here this evening is the reenactment of the greatness that Enugu is known for," Gov. Mbah remarked. He emphasized the historical significance of the victory, stating, "Part of what I said to the players before the match started was that they had the weight of history on their shoulders because they were walking the path legends had walked and that it was incumbent on them to deliver."
