Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has encouraged 1,200 new graduates of the Lagos State Upskilled Tradesmen and Artisans Programme to transform their skills into successful businesses. Speaking at the 12th graduation ceremony held in Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of collaboration and responsible use of grants and equipment provided by the program.
“Resist the urge to buy ‘Aso ebi’ with the grants you will receive today, and do not sell the equipment you are being given,” he advised, adding, “I promise that you will soon be employers of labor.”
Sanwo-Olu urged graduates to avoid flashy spending, encouraging them instead to focus on refining their skills and embracing technological advancements to work more efficiently. He noted that the graduates had shown impressive determination throughout their training.
The program, overseen by the Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, provided eight weeks of intensive training across three centers—Ikorodu, Agidingbi, and Ikotun. Commissioner Akinyemi Ajigbotafe highlighted the program's commitment to empowering young artisans and tradespeople across the state.
