Governor Aiyedatiwa Swears in Six Judges to Strengthen Ondo State Judiciary

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has sworn in six newly appointed judges of the State High Court, marking a significant step in strengthening the judiciary and enhancing the administration of justice in the state. The ceremony, held on Thursday in Akure, underscored the governor’s commitment to the rule of law and judicial independence.

The six newly sworn-in judges are Hon. Justices Adebisi Daomi, Adeola Adegoroye, Justinah Kpemi, Happiness Demehin-Ogunbayo, Wumi Fabuluje, and Idowu Ogunwumiju. This large-scale judicial appointment marks the second time during Aiyedatiwa’s tenure that a significant number of judges have been appointed to the bench, an action the governor hailed as crucial for reducing the workload in the state’s judiciary.

Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the new appointees for their dedication to the legal profession, highlighting their distinguished careers and contributions to justice. He also commended the leadership of the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Segun Odusola, for his role in facilitating the appointments, which were done in collaboration with the National Judicial Council and the newly appointed Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.

In his address, Aiyedatiwa emphasized the importance of diligence, sobriety, courage, and the fear of God in the dispensation of justice. He reaffirmed his administration's dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the judiciary’s independence.

The state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Olukayode Ajulo, lauded the governor’s respect for the judiciary and his commitment to ensuring the justice system is well-resourced. He noted the seamless cooperation between the executive, judiciary, and legislative branches, which has greatly improved justice delivery in Ondo State.

Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed judges, Justice Williams Daomi pledged that they would uphold the high standards of the judiciary and serve as exemplary ambassadors in the administration of justice.

The event concluded with the presentation of official vehicles to the newly appointed judges, further supporting their roles in advancing justice delivery in Ondo State.
