Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has significantly increased the annual subvention for housing facilities for the state's 98,534 civil servants, raising it from N100 million to N1 billion. This announcement was made by the Head of Service (HoS), Bode Agoro, during the closing of the ministerial press briefing marking the first year of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s second term.

Agoro also revealed that the governor has increased the annual subvention for car refurbishment loans from N100 million to N1 billion. The revised housing loan categories are now N400,000 to N800,000 for Level 1-4 employees, N600,000 to N1.2 million for Level 5-8, N800,000 to N1.6 million for Level 9-14, and N1 million to N2 million for Level 15-17.

The Staff Housing and Loans Board, established in 1976, aims to address the growing demand for government staff quarters by providing affordable housing and soft loans for public servants. The governor's approval also includes the allotment of two blocks to the Staff Housing Board across all completed housing schemes executed by the Ministry of Housing, further enhancing accommodation prospects for deserving public servants.
