Gunmen have tragically killed Mr. Uche Orukwo, a member of the Diobu Vigilante Group (DVG), at the Obidanso Waterfront in Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State. This incident, which occurred on Saturday night, has instilled fear in the area, prompting a call for calm from the police.
Reports indicate that Orukwo was part of a security team that had mobilized to the waterfront to confront cultists who were causing havoc in the area. Acting on intelligence, the security team arrived at the waterfront around 9 p.m. on Saturday, where they encountered suspected cultists preparing for an attack on a rival group as part of an ongoing supremacy battle.
Upon seeing the security operatives, the cultists opened fire, fatally shooting Orukwo, a member of the vigilante group. The tragic event has heightened tensions in the community, with residents concerned about the escalating violence.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the killing of Orukwo and stated that investigations are underway to apprehend those responsible for the attack. The police are working diligently to ensure that justice is served in this unfortunate incident.
