Herdsmen

Tension rises once again in Nimbo community, Uzo-Uwani local government area of Enugu state as alleged Fulani herdsmen invade the community and kill four individuals. The attackers reportedly struck in the early hours of Sunday, prompting residents of Akpugo village to flee to neighboring villages, towns, and nearby bushes for safety.

A visit by Vanguard to the community on Monday morning revealed an eerie scene, with the entire village deserted except for wandering sheep and goats. Local vigilante groups were seen searching the bushes and farms for any sign of the alleged Fulani herdsmen.

According to a reliable source, Nimbo community has been plagued by unrest since a previous invasion in 2004, where over 40 citizens were killed. The recent attack is believed to be linked to the community's opposition to the establishment of a ruga ranch. Despite efforts to reach the traditional ruler and community leaders for comment, they were unavailable due to health reasons or unresponsive.

Enugu state police spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident and stated that a team of policemen has been deployed to maintain peace in the community.
