The trio of Ese Brume, Ruth Usoro, and Prestina Ochonogor have made history by securing their places in the women’s long jump final at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Tuesday. This marks the first time three Nigerian women have advanced to the final in this event in Olympic history.
Ese Brume, an Olympic bronze medallist, overcame a shaky start that initially placed her in 9th position. She secured her spot in the final with a leap of 6.7 metres on her final attempt, earning automatic qualification. Ruth Usoro made headlines with an impressive jump of 6.76 metres, while Prestina Ochonogor followed closely with a leap of 6.65 metres.
All three athletes will compete for podium finishes alongside 12 other finalists on Thursday, setting the stage for an exciting and historic competition for Nigeria.
