Hoodlums Kidnap Monarch in Akwa Ibom State

Kidnap

The paramount ruler of Mbo Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, HRM Ogwong Okon A. Abang, was kidnapped from his palace in Ebughu around 9 PM on Saturday. This incident comes amid ongoing concerns about security in the region, following the recent abduction of Dr. John Robbin Esu, a colleague of doctors who have since suspended their services in protest.

The abduction of the paramount ruler mirrors the kidnapping of Dr. Esu in Oron LGA, highlighting the increasing vulnerability of the Oron nation to criminal activities. The recent rise in kidnappings has raised alarm about the deteriorating security infrastructure in the area.

In a related incident, the wife of Chief Asukwo Eweme Ulap Okon, a prominent political figure also known as Levile, was kidnapped in Oron last week. These incidents reflect a troubling pattern of targeted abductions in the region.

Akwa Ibom State Police Commissioner Waheed Ayilara and other service commanders were en route to the Ebughu Palace at the time of this report, indicating an urgent response to the crisis. The community remains on edge as efforts to secure the release of the abducted individuals continue.
