Markets across Ibadan will be closed on Friday, September 26, 2025, as traders honour the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja.
The directive was announced by the Babaloja General of Oyo State, Asiwaju Yekeen Abass, who said the closure was a mark of respect for the new monarch.
According to Abass, all markets within the eleven local government areas of Ibadanland — including those in the city centre and surrounding communities — will suspend business activities for the day.
In a statement, the market leaders congratulated Oba Ladoja, praying for a peaceful and impactful reign that would bring progress to Ibadanland and Oyo State.
Abass urged traders to attend the coronation ceremony at Mapo Hall, describing it as an important show of solidarity and reverence for the new ruler. He also extended birthday wishes to the monarch, wishing him long life and good health.
