Ahead of the Ondo governorship election scheduled for November 16, 2024, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Tuesday that 55,859 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were collected in the state over a five-day period, representing 62.2% of the 89,777 available cards.
The PVC collection exercise, which took place from October 17 to 21, 2024, occurred across all 203 wards in Ondo State. INEC, in a statement released by its National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, highlighted that this collection rate is the highest in such a short period since the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) process began in 2015.
The collection exercise will continue in INEC's 18 LGA offices across Ondo State from October 23 to 29, 2024, to enable more voters to collect their cards in preparation for the upcoming election.
