The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has requested cooperation from the Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to address illegal petroleum smuggling and related crimes. Alhaji Ado Garba, state coordinator of IPMAN’s National Task Force, led a delegation to the NSCDC headquarters in Katsina to foster partnership efforts.
Garba explained that the recently inaugurated national task force aims to curb oil-related crimes, including illegal oil bunkering, smuggling, pipeline vandalism, and the adulteration of petroleum products. He noted that IPMAN’s collaboration with NSCDC, as the lead agency, will involve intelligence sharing and joint operations to target these issues in the downstream sector.
NSCDC Commandant Jamilu Indabawa expressed the command’s readiness to support the task force and detailed renewed strategies for tackling sharp practices in the petroleum sector. He appealed for public cooperation to help enhance security across Katsina, reinforcing the command’s commitment to maintaining state-wide safety.
