The House of Representatives is mourning the passing of Hon. Isa Dogonyaro, a first-time lawmaker from Jigawa State. The 46-year-old, who represented the Babura/Garki Federal Constituency, reportedly died in Abuja on Friday morning after a brief illness.
Hon. Dogonyaro was known for his dedication and commitment to his legislative duties, particularly in the areas of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Control, where he served as the deputy chairman of the House Committee. Elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he was praised for his integrity, diligence, and unwavering dedication to the welfare of Nigerians.
The spokesman of the House, Akintunde Rotimi, confirmed his death, describing him as a detribalized patriot who built strong bonds of friendship with members from all parts of the country. Hon. Dogonyaro is survived by his wives and children.
The House expressed deep sorrow over his passing, highlighting his significant contributions to legislation and noting that his presence would be sorely missed in the hallowed chambers of the House of Representatives. Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
