Jos Protesters Continue Rally on Day Two, Demand Action from Government

Jos

Protesters in Jos, Plateau State, resumed their #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria demonstration on Friday, August 2, 2024, marking the second day of the nationwide rally. Starting around 7 am, protesters gathered at Old Airport Junction, where they sang, danced, and displayed placards criticizing the government's handling of economic hardship and governance issues.

Unlike the previous day, when protests were dispersed across various locations in Jos, the demonstration on Friday was more centralized. Shops and businesses in the city have reopened, indicating a partial return to normalcy.

Security personnel were visibly present, monitoring key areas to maintain order. Some protesters, including former Minister of Youths and Sports Solomon Dalung, expressed their commitment to continue the protests until the government addresses their concerns.

Dalung emphasized the protesters' determination, citing the high turnout on the first day and criticizing the government's response. "The protest was over 70% successful on day one," he stated, urging the government to act on the issues raised by the demonstrators.
