The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld Julius Abure as the Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), overturning a previous ruling by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court. Last year, the FCT High Court had restrained Abure and two others from acting as national officers of the party due to allegations of forging national documents.
In a judgment delivered by Justice Hamma Barka, the Appellate Court deemed the FCT High Court's assumption of jurisdiction over the matter as incorrect. Consequently, the Appellate Court set aside the earlier ruling, affirming Abure's position as the LP Chairman.
Additionally, the Appellate Court ordered a cost of One million Naira to be paid by the respondent, Lamidi Apapa, in favor of Abure. This ruling marks a significant victory for Abure and solidifies his leadership role within the Labour Party.
