Kaduna Ranks Third Best Performing State in Nigeria, Earns Four-Star Rating

Kaduna

The Kaduna State Government has announced that the state was ranked the third-best performing state in Nigeria in the 2025 Phillips Consulting State Performance Index, receiving an Excellent Four-Star Rating.

The government said the recognition serves as an independent endorsement of the reforms and development initiatives being implemented under the administration of Governor Uba Sani.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the ranking reflected notable achievements across several sectors, including governance, fiscal management, infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security and social inclusion.

According to him, the assessment was based on objective performance indicators as well as feedback from residents of the state.

“This recognition is important because it comes from an independent and credible assessment that combines measurable performance indicators with citizen feedback,” Maiyaki said.

“It confirms that Kaduna State is making steady progress in strengthening institutions, improving governance outcomes and creating more opportunities for its citizens.”

The commissioner noted that the latest recognition adds to a growing list of independent assessments highlighting improvements in governance and accountability within the state.

He recalled that Kaduna recently emerged as the top-performing state in Nigeria on the 2025 Transparency and Integrity Index released by the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity. The state also recorded the highest score in the country on the Control of Corruption Indicator.

Maiyaki attributed the achievements to the administration’s commitment to reforms, transparency and strategic investments in critical sectors.

“These rankings are encouraging because they show that our efforts are producing measurable results. However, our primary focus remains improving the lives of our people through inclusive development, economic empowerment, quality service delivery and sustainable peace,” he said.

The commissioner reaffirmed Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to building a peaceful, prosperous, transparent and globally competitive Kaduna State through people-focused policies and sustained reforms.

He also expressed appreciation to citizens, development partners, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organisations and other stakeholders for their contributions to the state’s development journey.

Since taking office in May 2023, Governor Sani’s administration has pursued reforms aimed at strengthening fiscal discipline, expanding healthcare and education, improving infrastructure, boosting agriculture and enhancing security across the state.

The government maintains that these initiatives are designed to promote inclusive growth, reduce poverty and rebuild public confidence in government institutions, with the latest ranking serving as evidence of the progress made so far.
