Ilyasu Kwankwaso, a former Kano state commissioner of rural and community development, has condemned the recent protest against the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle. He described the protest as a negative move, suggesting it was aimed at President Bola Tinubu, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and the APC government.
Kwankwaso questioned the timing and motives behind the protest, noting that those criticizing Tinubu now were silent during former President Muhammadu Buhari's tenure. He urged political elders in the north to work with their governors to deliver development, emphasizing that Tinubu's administration has achieved much within a short time.
According to Kwankwaso, there were agreements that led to the merger of parties forming the APC, with Tinubu playing a significant role. He praised Tinubu's efforts in addressing insecurity, citing improved safety on the Abuja-Kaduna road. He criticized those trying to undermine Tinubu's presidency, saying their actions are counterproductive.
Kwankwaso called on critics to support Tinubu's administration and focus on developmental projects in the region. He highlighted the need for completion of infrastructure projects like the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road and the AKK Gas pipelines, emphasizing Tinubu's commitment to completing them for the benefit of the North.
