During the hearing, the counsel for the applicants, Mr. Eyitayo Fatogun SAN, requested a 30-minute recess to serve the respondents with their responses. This request was opposed by the counsel for Ado-Bayero, Mr. Abdul Muhammed SAN, who sought an adjournment to allow time to reply and file all applications. Consequently, Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu adjourned the matter until July 4 for the hearing of all pending applications and originating motions.
The court had previously granted an interim injunction on May 27, restraining the respondents from parading themselves as Emirs to maintain peace in Kano. This follows the dissolution of the newly created Emirate councils by the Kano State House of Assembly on May 23, with Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf reappointing Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano.
