Kano Governor Donates Food and Cows to Inmates for Eid-el-Fitr Celebration

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir-Yusuf, has donated food items and 12 cows to inmates at Custodial Centres across the state to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. The donation, aimed at enhancing the welfare of the inmates, aligns with the governor's commitment to supporting vulnerable groups in the state.

The contribution was facilitated by the Chairperson of the Kano State Committee for the Prerogative of Mercy, Hajiya Azumi Namadi-Bebeji, who made the delivery on behalf of the governor. According to a statement from the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Kano Command, CSC Musbahu Kofar-Nasarawa, the donated items included bags of rice, vegetable oil, onions, seasonings, and the 12 cows.

“This is in line with the administration’s commitment to the welfare of inmates and other vulnerable people in the state,” said Namadi-Bebeji, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in the successful management of custodial centres, as well as the reformation and rehabilitation of inmates.

The donation was warmly received by Mr. Ado Inuwa, the Controller of NCoS, Kano Command, who expressed gratitude for the state government's continuous support. Inuwa noted that the gesture not only provided for the immediate needs of the inmates but also contributed to their rehabilitation, giving them a sense of belonging.

The initiative highlights the Kano State Government’s ongoing efforts to improve the lives of prisoners and ensure their successful reintegration into society.
