The Kano State Police Command has confirmed it will comply with a court order restricting it from involvement in the Kano State Local Government election scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2024. In a statement released on Friday via Channels Television, Superintendent of Police Abdullahi Haruna, the command’s Public Relations Officer, emphasized the police’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property despite the court-imposed limitations.

“We will comply with the court order restricting us from participating in the upcoming election,” Haruna stated, reiterating that law and order will be maintained across the state. To this end, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba, has convened a meeting with senior officers to intensify patrols, increase visibility in high-risk areas, and strengthen intelligence-gathering efforts.

The court ruling also affects the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, further adding significance to the order's implications on the electoral process.
