The Kano State Government has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to relocate the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, from the state, citing his presence as a threat to local peace and stability. During a press conference on Monday addressing the ongoing chieftaincy crisis, Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam emphasized the government's firm stance on reinstating Sanusi, the 16th Emir, to the throne.
Abdussalam clarified that the state government was not officially served with a court order to maintain the status quo, noting that only the Inspector General of Police received such an order. He criticized certain All Progressives Congress (APC) members for instigating protests against the dissolution of the emirates and Sanusi's reinstatement, attributing the unrest to political motivations.
He further accused individuals within the APC of orchestrating disruptions, stating that directives from higher authorities were influencing security forces' actions in favor of the deposed Emir. Abdussalam highlighted that while some emirates have accepted the changes peacefully, sponsored protests have emerged, particularly from Gaya, Rano, and Bichi.
Appealing to President Tinubu and national security agencies, Abdussalam urged for the immediate evacuation of Aminu Ado Bayero from Kano to prevent further security threats. He noted the government's efforts to communicate the situation to the President and stressed the need for swift action to maintain order in the state.
