Katsina

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has condemned the brutal killing of worshippers in Katsina State, describing the attack as “barbaric” and “daring.”

The assault, which occurred during Fajr prayers on Tuesday at a mosque in the Unguwan Mantau community, Malumfashi Local Government Area, has left at least 32 people dead, according to community reports, although police have so far confirmed 17 casualties.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, Abbas expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stressing that targeting worshippers in a sacred place of prayer was both inhumane and shocking.

“The attack is not only unfortunate but also daring, especially being on worshippers who were out to pray at a holy place meant to be safe and secure,” the Speaker said.

He called on security agencies to urgently track down and prosecute the perpetrators, warning that failure to act decisively would embolden similar assaults.

Abbas extended his condolences to the families of the slain, the Unguwan Mantau community, and the entire people and government of Katsina State, while praying for the eternal rest of the victims.
