Alhaji Abubakar Abdullah Matazu, the General Manager of the State Rural Electricity Board, disclosed this during a press briefing in Katsina.
Matazu highlighted that the power plant will generate electricity to ensure a constant power supply, benefiting households and promoting industrial growth. He also mentioned the ongoing installation of a hybrid solar-powered mini-grid at the Government House in Katsina as part of immediate measures to address power outages and reduce diesel costs under the Radda administration.

The solar power initiative is crucial for ensuring uninterrupted service delivery, especially in general hospitals, where power outages have been a significant challenge. The project aims to cover all general hospitals, public schools, and three primary health care centers in each of the state's thirty-four local governments. Provisions for the solar system in general hospitals have been included in the supplementary budget passed by the state Assembly.
Technologist Abdullahi Bature, the sub-contractor overseeing the project, assured a timely completion. He stated that the solar power project would generate one megawatt for the Katsina Government House and up to 250 kilowatts for the general hospital, marking a significant step towards ensuring a constant power supply in the state.
