Chairman of the Lagos State Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mrs. Funmi Sessi, has proposed a minimum wage of at least N794,000 for public workers. Sessi made this recommendation in a memorandum submitted at the South-West Geo-Political Zone Public Hearings, organized by the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage (TCNMW), chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for Economy, Mr. Wale Edun. The event took place at LTV Ground, Agindingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.

Sessi emphasized the urgency of reviewing the minimum wage due to the escalating cost of living across various economic sectors. She highlighted the necessity for a sustainable increase in the minimum wage for Nigerian workers. Additionally, the unions criticized the stance of some governors who claim inability to pay the minimum wage, deeming it "unacceptable."
