Convicted billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, was on Monday re-arraigned before Justice Oyindamola Ogala of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, over the alleged murder of two police officers.
The case, which was transferred from Justice Adenike Coker’s court, also involves Evans’ co-defendant, Joseph Ikenna Emeka.
During Monday’s proceedings, A.O. Azeez appeared for the Lagos State Government, while Charity O. represented Chief Emefo Etudo on behalf of Evans, and Nelson Onyejiakor represented Emeka.
Azeez told the court that the case had been moved to Justice Ogala’s court and requested that the defendants be re-arraigned. He added that any earlier plea bargain applications filed before Justice Coker would not affect the new proceedings.
Both men were then re-arraigned on an amended five-count charge bordering on murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
According to the prosecution, Evans and Emeka committed the crimes on August 27, 2013, at about 10:00 p.m., along Third Avenue, Festac Town, Lagos.

They were accused of killing two individuals identified as Peter Nweke and Chijioke Ngozi during the incident. The offences, Azeez said, contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Evans, who has already been convicted in two separate kidnapping and murder cases, is currently facing three more ongoing criminal trials.
Justice Ogala adjourned the case to November 19, 2025, for hearing and the issuance of witness summons.
