The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has launched a free medical outreach for residents of Agboyi Ori Omi, a remote riverine community in the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.
The programme, which took place on Monday, was organised in collaboration with the Lagos State Health District II and the Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps. It provided essential health services to residents who have limited access to medical care.
The outreach is part of Gbajabiamila’s broader initiative to improve healthcare access for underserved and hard-to-reach communities across Lagos State. Services offered included oral and eye checks, free eyeglasses, blood pressure and blood sugar testing, TB and HIV screening, treatment of minor illnesses, and free medication.
Represented by Lagos State lawmaker Desmond Elliot (Surulere Constituency I), Gbajabiamila said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to prioritising health, especially at the grassroots level. He emphasised that President Bola Tinubu’s administration takes healthcare seriously and encouraged residents to take advantage of the opportunity.
“The tests are done here, and we’re providing on-the-spot treatment where needed. It’s a laudable partnership with the Lagos State Government, and we want everyone to benefit,” he said.
He added that the government remains committed to raising the standard and quality of healthcare nationwide.
Also speaking, Lawal, Special Adviser on Budget and Finance to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, praised Gbajabiamila’s dedication to improving healthcare access. He noted that Gbajabiamila has consistently shown compassion for ordinary Nigerians through various interventions in healthcare, education, and empowerment.
“Bringing healthcare to one of the most forgotten communities in Lagos is commendable. Without good health, income and education suffer. Today, thousands of people from Agboyi communities benefited from this outreach,” Lawal said.
He added that the team would move next to Maskra Ketu on Tuesday and Ikorodu on Wednesday and Thursday, taking the message of renewed hope across Lagos.
The Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Health District II, Dr Dayo Lajide, praised Gbajabiamila’s efforts, noting that Agboyi Ori Omi’s isolated location makes such services invaluable.
“We have over 41,000 people living here, and they truly need these services. This outreach brings free O&G, dental, and eye care, alongside blood pressure and sugar tests,” she said, adding that the state is also working to upgrade the community’s Primary Healthcare Centre.
The Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mrs Adetola Abubakar, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and Gbajabiamila, describing the initiative as “timely and impactful.”
“Every aspect of our national life is being touched. The Chief of Staff, like the President, truly has the welfare of citizens at heart,” she said.

She also thanked the Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps, an international non-profit organisation dedicated to global healthcare, for partnering on the project.
