The Lagos State Government has initiated a medical panel to investigate the clinical circumstances leading to the death of Waheed Ayilara, the Akwa Ibom Commissioner of Police, who passed away on August 29 at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) following prostate cancer surgery.
This was disclosed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, in a statement released on Saturday. The panel, directed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is chaired by the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Prof. Adetokunbo Fabanwo, and is expected to deliver a comprehensive report within seven days.
Prof. Abayomi emphasized the government's commitment to a thorough investigation, expressing condolences on behalf of the governor and the people of Lagos State to Ayilara's family, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Akwa Ibom State Government.
Ayilara, a respected police officer known for his dedication and integrity, was undergoing prostate cancer surgery when he unexpectedly passed away, leaving behind a legacy of exemplary service to the nation.
