The Lagos State Government has unveiled key projects aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in 2024, including the Lagos Red Line Rail, Opebi Link Bridge, and 15 newly completed ferry jetties across the state.
Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, shared these developments during an interview at the Alausa Secretariat.
The official announcement was made via the Lagos State Government's X handle. Omotoso said the Opebi Link Bridge would divert traffic from Ikorodu Road, facilitating smoother access to the Airport from Ojota.
Additionally, the Lagos Red Line Rail is expected to reduce the travel time from Iddo to Agbado from three hours to approximately 35 minutes.
The water transportation sector is also projected to see enhancements with the completion of 15 new jetties and the addition of 12 boats to the existing fleet of 21, reflecting the government's commitment to improving transportation infrastructure.
Omotoso emphasised the administration's progress, noting that the ferry boat fleet had expanded from 7 to 33, since Governor Sanwo-Olu took office in 2019, further bolstering marine transportation in the state.
