Lagos Traffic Alert: Weekend Diversion at Ikeja Along for Bridge Demolition

Lagos

The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion at Ikeja Along Bus Stop on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, affecting the Oshodi-bound lane between Ile Zik and Conoil Filling Station. The diversion will be in place for two days, from midnight to 4 a.m., on August 17 and 18, 2024, to facilitate the safe demolition of an old pedestrian bridge.

According to the state's Ministry of Transportation, only one lane will be available to motorists during this period. The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, assured that traffic on the Dopemu/Abule Egba bound side would remain unaffected.

Lagos Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials will be on-site to manage traffic flow and minimize inconvenience. Motorists are urged to be patient as the necessary demolition work proceeds.

The affected lanes will be secured with jersey barriers and protective nets to ensure the safety of both motorists and workers during the demolition process.
