In their Christmas messages, leaders like Governors Dapo Abiodun, Seyi Makinde, Bassey Otu, and Caleb Mutfwang urged Nigerians, especially Christians, to embrace values of love, compassion, and unity, following the example of Jesus Christ. They emphasized the importance of prayers for peace, prosperity, and national progress.
The governors also encouraged citizens to look beyond current hardships and focus on a brighter future. Abiodun, for example, reminded Ogun State residents that the economic difficulties were temporary and urged them to support the reforms initiated by the Tinubu administration. Makinde called for vigilance and prayers, especially for those mourning recent tragedies, while Otu highlighted efforts to improve the economy in Cross River and stressed the need for unity.
Leaders from other sectors, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-governor Kayode Fayemi, also joined in the celebrations, emphasizing love, unity, and resilience as keys to overcoming the nation's challenges. Atiku urged Nigerians to stay united despite adversity, while Fayemi encouraged reflection on the past year and renewed commitment to national progress. Minister Nyesom Wike and Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu reaffirmed the government's focus on unity and selflessness in tackling national issues.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, acknowledged the sacrifices of the Armed Forces in maintaining security across the nation while urging troops to remain resilient in their fight against terrorism. The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) also urged Nigerians to prioritize their health, promoting awareness through free HIV testing during the festive season. As the nation celebrates Christmas, leaders expressed optimism for a prosperous and united Nigeria in the year ahead.
