Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the November 16 governorship election, securing a resounding victory in the party's primaries. Aiyedatiwa received a total of 48,569 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Mayowa Akinfolarin, who garnered 15,343 votes. Chief Olusola Oke came in third with 14,865 votes. The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee and Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, who highlighted the competitive nature of the primaries.
The primaries, which took place across the 18 council areas of Ondo State, witnessed enthusiastic participation from party members and supporters. Despite some incidents of violence, the process continued, with Aiyedatiwa ultimately securing the nomination.
Governor Ododo emphasized the importance of unity within the party, urging members to remain committed to the APC's ideals and to support Aiyedatiwa's candidacy. He stressed that the real election lies in the solidarity and strength of the party as a united entity.
With his nomination confirmed, Aiyedatiwa and the APC now turn their attention to the November election, where they will face off against opponents from other parties. The focus will be on consolidating support and mobilizing resources for a successful campaign.
