Major General Kevin Aligbe, Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) of the Nigerian Army, has assured officers and soldiers that the ongoing war against insurgency and banditry will soon be concluded. He emphasized that the Army is committed to ending insecurity before returning to the barracks.

Speaking at a gathering in Akure for candidates who participated in the 2024 Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE), Major General Aligbe reinforced the Army's dedication to restoring peace in Nigeria. “We are on course to finish this fight. Once we return to the barracks, it will be to prepare for even greater tasks ahead,” he said.

Aligbe noted that after securing peace locally, the Army’s focus would shift to contributing to regional and global peace efforts. “Be ready to go back to the field, not just for national duty but for regional or global efforts towards peace. The Army is in good hands, and we are prepared for higher challenges.”

The TRADOC Commander also praised the participants of the CMPPE, highlighting their discipline and readiness for future leadership roles. Successful candidates from the examination will qualify for selection to attend the Junior Staff Course at the prestigious Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, or other affiliated staff colleges abroad.

“You have shown discipline and readiness for the higher tasks that lie ahead. This is a significant milestone in your career, and you will not forget this experience,” Aligbe remarked.

General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Major General Obinna Onubogu, represented by Brigadier General John Lar, Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, also commended the officers for their conduct during the examination and urged them to remain calm while awaiting the results.

As Nigeria continues its battle against insurgency, the Army leadership remains optimistic and committed to ensuring peace across the country, while preparing its officers for more significant roles both within and beyond Nigeria's borders.
