Man Arraigned in Akure for Sexually Molesting Five Boys

A 35-year-old man, Damilare Adekojo, has been brought before an Akure Magistrate Court on charges of sexually molesting five boys. The alleged incidents occurred between October 2021 and February 2023 in Bada Community, Ala, Akure. According to reports, Adekojo is accused of sexually assaulting the minors by masturbating their sexual organs without their consent. He faces a five-count charge related to these assaults.

During the arraignment, Adekojo pleaded not guilty to all charges. The prosecutor, Taiwo Oniyere, cited Section 217 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1 Laws of the Ondo State Nigeria, 2006, as the basis for the charges. Oniyere requested that the defendant be remanded in prison custody.

However, Adekojo's lawyer, Mr. M.A. Fadunmo, objected to the request for remand, instead asking the court to grant bail to his client under liberal terms. After considering the arguments, the Presiding Magistrate, T. O. Olusola-Olujobi, granted bail to Adekojo in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. The defendant was ordered to be remanded in the Olokuta Correctional Centre until he meets the bail conditions.

The case has been adjourned to April 2, 2024, for further hearing.
