Manchester United Confirms Ruben Amorim as New Head Coach

Manchester United has appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach, with the 39-year-old set to officially take charge on November 11. The announcement follows the sacking of Erik ten Hag earlier this week after a disappointing loss to West Ham United.

Amorim, highly regarded for his accomplishments with Sporting Lisbon, has signed a contract with United that will run until June 2027, with an option for an additional year. He will fulfill his remaining responsibilities at Sporting Lisbon, where he has guided the team to two Primeira Liga titles, before moving to Manchester.

Until Amorim’s arrival, former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue in his role as interim manager, overseeing the club's upcoming matches.

United's statement praised Amorim as "one of European football’s most exciting and highly rated young coaches,” noting his skill in fostering young talent and his achievements in Portugal, including Sporting CP’s first league title in nearly two decades.
