On Thursday, military personnel reportedly invaded the offices of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC), causing significant disruption and fear among staff. The personnel, seen in uniform, forcibly entered the company’s headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, around 7:40 AM. A similar incident occurred at the Ikeja Electric office on Ago Palace Way, Okota, Isolo.

In a viral video, the military personnel were filmed wielding arms within the premises, with more than seven staff members reportedly seen kneeling while others were allegedly assaulted.

Context of the Incident

The incident occurred just one day after Ikeja Electric disconnected power supply to the Nigerian Air Force logistics base in Ikeja, which is believed to have sparked the military's response.

This act of intimidation has caused panic among Ikeja Electric staff, many of whom reportedly hid for safety during the invasion. The situation is now under investigation, as the actions of the military personnel raise concerns over the handling of dispute resolution in commercial disagreements.
