Monday Okpebholo has officially taken office as the governor of Edo State, marking the conclusion of Godwin Obaseki's eight-year administration. The inauguration ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the state capital. Okpebholo, who won the September gubernatorial election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), was sworn in alongside his deputy, Dennis Idahosa.
Several dignitaries attended the event, including Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo and former Edo governor Adams Oshiomhole. Okpebholo’s inauguration signals a new chapter for the South-South state, as he steps into the leadership role at Dennis Osadebay House to oversee Edo’s development trajectory.
