Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the president, has initiated the Southwest Huawei Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Women in Tech Training to empower women entrepreneurs with tech and digital skills for economic growth. The ceremony, held at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), aimed to equip women with the necessary skills to compete in the technology world. The initiative, in partnership with HUAWEI, aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 5) to achieve gender equality and equal opportunities for women in decision-making.
Represented by Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Tinubu highlighted the importance of the Huawei Women in Tech Digital Training programme in bridging the gender divide in the digital world. She emphasized technology's role in enhancing efficiency, facilitating innovation, and driving economic growth, offering solutions to global challenges in various sectors.
The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), part of the federal government's efforts, aims to positively impact lives by lifting individuals out of poverty and guiding them towards better lives. Mrs. Tinubu urged beneficiaries to use technology as a catalyst for positive change, reaffirming their commitment to creating a world where every woman can thrive.
Mrs. Adeola Bali, Senior Special Assistant to the First Lady, highlighted the RHI's coverage of various areas such as agriculture, economic empowerment, social investment, health, and education. The initiative provides meaningful interventions to families nationwide. Mrs. Nihinlola Fafore, Deputy Director of Huawei, explained that the Tech Training for women will run across all geopolitical zones, with the first phase covering all states in the Southwest. Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of technology to support their businesses and improve their income.
