The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has killed more than 25 terrorists in a coordinated night operation around Bula in Yobe State and the Banki axis of Borno State.
A statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the strikes were conducted on September 18 following intelligence provided by ground troops.
According to him, a force package of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets and strike aircraft tracked terrorist movements and identified multiple groups north of Banki.
> “The strike aircraft engaged the terrorists in three successive precision strikes on their movement routes and assembly areas, effectively neutralising more than 25 fighters,” Ejodame said.
He explained that real-time updates were shared with ground forces and base operations, enabling synchronised action. Post-strike surveillance also confirmed that ground troops held their defensive positions with no further threats observed.
Ejodame stressed that the operation demonstrated NAF’s decisive support to ground forces, its role in denying terrorists freedom of action, and its commitment to restoring peace in the North-East.
This comes just days after a September 8 attack by Boko Haram terrorists on Darajamal community in Bama LGA, Borno State, where at least 63 people, including five soldiers, were killed. The attackers stormed the community on motorcycles, firing at residents and setting homes and vehicles ablaze before reinforcements arrived.
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, had described the Darajamal incident as “very sad,” while reaffirming his government’s support for security agencies in the fight against insurgency.
