NDC Holds Delta Congress, Inaugurates New State Executives

The Delta State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress on Monday held its state congress in Asaba, inaugurating a new set of executives in what party leaders described as a step toward strengthening its structure ahead of future elections.

The event, which took place at Orchid Hotel, drew a large turnout of party members and stakeholders from across the state.

Speaking after his inauguration, the newly sworn-in state chairman, Angiamaowei Richman Oyindoubra, said the successful congress marked a fresh beginning for the party in Delta State. He added that the NDC is positioning itself to tackle Nigeria’s pressing economic and security challenges while improving the welfare of citizens.

Oyindoubra noted that the current economic climate has placed a heavy burden on many Nigerians, with rising costs of goods and services affecting daily life. He assured members that the party would intensify mobilisation and voter awareness efforts in the lead-up to upcoming elections.

Also speaking at the event, party leader and former governorship aspirant Ken Pela said his decision to join the party was driven by its clear vision and commitment to service. He described the NDC as a credible alternative for Nigerians seeking meaningful change.

Pela, who recently left the African Democratic Congress, commended the party’s national leadership, particularly Seriake Dickson, for providing direction and stability. He also pointed to the recent defection of Peter Obi as a sign of renewed momentum within the party.

According to him, the congress was more than just a routine exercise, describing it as an opportunity to redefine leadership and governance in the state.

“We are not here for politics as usual. We are here to reset the system and build a Delta State anchored on integrity, unity, and shared prosperity,” he said.

The event featured the inauguration of several party officials into key positions, forming part of broader efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and expand its support base across the state.
