This action, overseen by NDLEA's Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, occurred in Badagry, Lagos. The seized drugs were destroyed following court orders, as stated by the agency's Chairman, Brig.- Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.). Marwa emphasized the importance of public support for ongoing efforts to combat substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria.

The destroyed exhibits included various illicit drugs like cocaine, heroin, cannabis, and tramadol. These substances were seized by NDLEA operatives across different locations in Lagos and Ogun states from January 2022 to date, notably at seaports, airports, and land borders. Marwa noted the significant volume of the drug haul, indicating the scale of illicit drug activities.

Marwa expressed gratitude to traditional rulers, heads of security agencies, religious leaders, NGOs, CSOs, and other stakeholders who witnessed the destruction. He also praised local and international partners for their support, including the American Drug Enforcement Administration (US-DEA), the United Kingdom NCA, Border Force, and others. Marwa reassured the public of NDLEA's commitment to eradicating the drug scourge and called for continued public support.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, commended NDLEA's efforts in combating illicit drugs, acknowledging the agency's role in reducing crime. Represented by the Chairman of Badagry West Local Government, Mr. Olusegun Onilude, Sanwo-Olu pledged the state government's continued collaboration with NDLEA. He also appreciated NDLEA's social advocacy campaign against drug abuse in schools and communities across Lagos State.
