The Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 1,045.93 kg of various illicit substances and arrested 420 suspects in the third quarter of 2024. Commander Samaila Danmalam revealed the figures, noting that the arrested individuals included 404 males and 16 females, involved in drug dealing, usage, and trafficking.
During this period, NDLEA operatives confiscated drugs such as cocaine, cannabis, tramadol, methamphetamine, and other psychotropic substances. In addition, they recovered 1,393 rounds of ammunition and four locally made arms in multiple operations. Thirty offenders were convicted, while 54 more suspects are still under investigation.

The command also focused on drug demand reduction, rehabilitating 50 drug-dependent individuals and reintegrating them into society. It conducted awareness programs and counseling for drug users to curb the growing menace in Kaduna State.
Danmalam reiterated the NDLEA's commitment to fighting drug trafficking and urged the public to provide timely information for swift action. Last month, NDLEA operatives intercepted cocaine and opioids hidden in ladies' sanitary pads.
