Nemi Edwin-Iwo has officially taken up his new role as the Commissioner of Police in Edo State. According to a statement released by Moses Yamu, the newly-appointed police spokesperson in the state, Edwin-Iwo hails from Okrika Local Government in Rivers State.
Edwin-Iwo holds a B.A. (Hons.) Degree in History from the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) and a Master's in Industrial Relations from the University of Ibadan (UI). He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has since risen through the ranks. Over his three-decade career, he has undertaken numerous tactical and leadership courses both within Nigeria and abroad.
Known for his dedication and versatility, Edwin-Iwo has held various command positions across different areas, including administration, intelligence, operations, and public relations. He is also recognized internationally, having served in United Nations Peacekeeping Missions in Kosovo, Sudan, and Darfur. Prior to his current assignment, he was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Intelligence at the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The new Commissioner is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and is married with children.
