A 27-year-old man, Chukwuebuka Eweni, has been arrested by New Orleans police after allegedly stabbing his father to death and injuring his two sisters in a domestic attack at their home on Pebble Street.
Family members told WWL Louisiana that the victim, Samuel Eweni, was a computer science professor at Southern University at New Orleans. They said the incident happened on Tuesday night when Chukwuebuka suddenly grabbed a knife and attacked his family.
Relatives explained that although Chukwuebuka had a long history of mental illness, he had never shown violent tendencies. They described the evening as normal before the sudden outburst. One of the surviving victims has been discharged from the hospital, while the other is still receiving treatment but expected to recover.
The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) confirmed in a statement that Chukwuebuka was located in Jefferson Parish and taken into custody while undergoing medical evaluation.
According to NOPD, the attack occurred around 9:59 p.m. on November 11, 2025. Officers responded to a report of a domestic stabbing and found an unresponsive man with fatal stab wounds, alongside two injured adult victims.
