The Niger State Government has announced the resumption of direct commercial flights from Minna to Lagos and Abuja, set to commence on April 23, 2025, from the newly named Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna. This marks the first time in over 15 years that such routes will be operational.

Overland Airways Limited has been chosen as the inaugural airline for the new routes. Alhaji Liman Katamba Kutigi, Chief Operating Officer of New Niger Aviation (NNA), emphasized the significance of this development, describing it as a pivotal move in positioning Niger State as a key hub for investment, trade, and tourism. "This launch is more than an air route. It’s a bridge to opportunity," he said, highlighting the focus on safety, reliability, and economic benefits.

The flight schedule indicates that flights to Lagos will depart at 8 a.m., and those to Abuja will take off at 9:30 a.m., operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Capt. Edward Boyo, CEO of Overland Airways, expressed excitement about the new partnership, confirming that the airline will operate these routes using its state-of-the-art Embraer E-175 aircraft. "This service underscores our commitment to expanding connectivity across Nigeria and collaborating with visionary governments like Niger State," Boyo remarked, praising the initiative as a transformational step for the region.

This development is expected to enhance connectivity and drive economic growth in Niger State.
