Nigeria Condemns Canada’s Visa Denial to Defence Chief Musa

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has criticised the Canadian Embassy’s refusal to grant a visa to Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, labeling it as disrespectful to the nation.

General Musa disclosed that he and several senior military officers were denied visas to attend a Canadian event honouring war veterans, though some delegates received approvals. Musa described the denial as a “wake-up call” for Nigeria to assert its sovereignty and demand respect from foreign nations.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Tunji-Ojo expressed concern over the incident. “It is not only disrespectful to the Chief of Defence Staff but to Nigeria as a whole. If this can happen to him, what about the average Nigerian?” he questioned.

He highlighted the importance of reciprocity in international relations and urged the use of diplomatic channels for such matters. Tunji-Ojo assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would address the issue to ensure mutual respect between Nigeria and Canada.
