In a major step toward modernizing its operations, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has launched a new digital platform for the application and processing of the Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Alien Card (CERPAC).
The online portal, now officially live, enables individuals and organisations to electronically complete and submit expatriate permit applications, eliminating the need for manual paperwork.
In a statement signed by the NIS Public Relations Officer, ACI Kenneth Kure Akinlabi, the agency said the move is part of a wider push by the Federal Government to enhance transparency, streamline services, and improve user experience across public sector processes.
As part of the transition, the NIS has set a firm deadline: Beginning August 1, 2025, all CERPAC applications must be submitted through the new digital platform. Manual applications will no longer be accepted after that date.
The digital shift marks a significant milestone in the ongoing reform of Nigeria’s immigration system, aiming to reduce processing time, minimize human contact, and align with global best practices in immigration management.
