Troops of the Nigerian Army, deployed for rescue operations in Taraba State, have successfully arrested 12 suspected kidnappers following a distress call from Chachanji village. The kidnappers, believed to be part of a group of 10 armed men on motorcycles, had abducted two individuals on November 7.
The army's intervention led to the recovery of 14 motorcycles, two bags of Indian hemp, and a locally made pistol. After engaging with the kidnappers, the army's superior firepower forced them to retreat into the bush, leaving behind their weapons and drugs.
A follow-up operation on November 9 resulted in the arrest of the 12 suspects at a local drinking joint in Mbhakyir village. The suspects admitted their involvement in the abduction and identified their leader, Veior John Gata, as a notorious terrorist wanted for criminal activities in southern Taraba and Benue states.
