Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has announced plans to enroll officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in the Employees Compensation Scheme (ECS) to provide additional social benefits. He made this known during an advocacy visit by Oluwaseun Faleye, Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), and his team to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Egbetokun commended Faleye for the significant changes brought to the NSITF and pledged the NPF’s active collaboration with the agency to ensure compliance with the ECS across public and private sectors. He assured that the NPF would address any obstacles hindering their contribution to the scheme and provide full support to NSITF's enforcement efforts.
Faleye, while acknowledging the current lack of police compliance with the ECS, expressed confidence that the partnership with the NPF would open a new chapter. He praised the police for their sacrifices in securing the nation and emphasized the importance of extending social insurance benefits to officers in line with the NSITF's mandate.
Both parties emphasized their commitment to working together to improve social benefits for officers and foster a long-term partnership to protect the welfare of NPF personnel.
