The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has handed the Federal Government a seven-day ultimatum to refund allegedly diverted workers’ funds from the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and immediately constitute the Governing Board of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM)—warning that failure to comply will trigger a nationwide industrial action.
The directive was issued in a communiqué released after the NLC Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting, held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in Abuja.
Presided over by NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero, the meeting deliberated extensively on pressing issues affecting Nigerian workers, the trade union movement, and the state of the nation.
The Congress emphasised that workers’ welfare and financial security cannot be compromised, vowing to mobilise its affiliates across all sectors if the Federal Government fails to act within the stipulated timeframe.
